Trusted Computer Solutions Announces General Availability of Advanced Security Management Tool for Red Hat Enterprise Linux User

SecurityBlanket Offers Systems Administrator Tool to Lock Down Linux Servers

Herndon, Va. – September 17, 2007 – Trusted Computer Solutions, Inc. (TCS), a leader in building security applications that run on the Linux Operating System, today announced the general availability of SecurityBlanket, a system lock-down and security management tool that enables systems administrators to automatically configure and enhance the security level of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 and 5.

SecurityBlanket is a menu driven solution with an easy-to-use interface that allows administrators to run predefined profiles that automate industry-standard best practices for hardening Linux.  The profiles are based on security guidelines recommended by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and the Center for Internet Security (CIS).  Alternatively, users can customize profiles that support their own security policies. Once a profile is selected, the product quickly assesses the system and provides indicators to show the status of the system’s conformance to the security guidelines.  The conformance indicators show Pass, Fail or Not Applicable.  By clicking on any failed criteria, the user receives a detailed description of the failure, suggestions on modification and a choice to accept modification or ignore.

According to an August 21, 2007 article in SearchEnterpriseLinux.com article, Forrester Research analyst Jennifer Mulligan is quoted as saying, "an automated, easy-to-use application like SecurityBlanket could be a boon for system administrators who preside over smaller server deployments."  In this same article, Raven Zachary, research director for open source software at the New York-based 451 Group, said SecurityBlanket provides "a great snapshot of where users could have security vulnerabilities in their Red Hat Enterprise Linux distribution."

An enterprise version of SecurityBlanket, which allows centralized management of multiple Linux servers, is expected by the first quarter of 2008.  TCS also plans to support SUSE Linux in the next version of SecurityBlanket.

SecurityBlanket sells for $198.  For more information on the product call: 1-866-230-3707 or visit: http://www.TrustedCS.com/securityblanket
