Trusted Computer Solutions Releases TCSecure™ Suite of Internet Security Solutions for Sun's Trusted Solaris™

WASHINGTON, DC Feb. 24, 1999 - Trusted Computer Solutions, Inc. (TCS), a leader in the delivery of expert security solutions for the Department of Defense and US Intelligence Community, today announced the release of the TCSecure™ family of commercial Internet security solutions hosted on Sun Microsystems' Trusted Solaris™ operating system. Trusted Solaris is a world-renowned, ITSEC E3 evaluated secure operating system that is now available and currently being used by Government and commercial organizations for secure Internet transactions around the globe.

Why Trusted Solaris?
Trusted Solaris provides military-grade security capabilities from Sun Microsystems that generic operating systems do not and cannot provide. Traditional security components such as firewalls and the use of encryption fail to provide a complete, robust and reliable security solution. To ensure that attacks on a business-critical system are defeated, the fundamental security layer must be provided by the operating system where decisions are made regarding access to file systems, devices, and processes. Under Trusted Solaris, resources such as files, networks, and processes can be separated into distinct virtual domains. Trusted Solaris enforces the absolute separation of these domains, where one is completely inaccessible from another. Using TCSecure, customers can now isolate external networks, such as the Internet, in one domain while internal networks are protected in a different domain.

TCSecure Family of Internet Security Solutions
TCSecure is a new family of network security solutions from Trusted Computer Solutions that was designed and developed to solve security issues associated with performing business over the Internet. The TCSecure family, based upon C2Net's Stronghold™ secure Web Server, is the result of TCS’ extensive experience working with its many customers in the Department of Defense and the US Intelligence Community. All products in the TCSecure family have been enhanced to take advantage of the additional security capabilities provided by the Trusted Solaris operating system. These security-enhanced capabilities include: Mandatory Access Controls (MAC), removal of the root "superuser" userid, data labeling and domain separation (compartmentalization), increased auditing, plus much more. In addition, all TCSecure products feature support for SSL V3 encryption, X.509 digital certificates, and Apache Web Server features such as host aliasing, site mirroring, etc. The TCSecure family of products is the next-generation in secure network devices for the commercial world, and Electronic Commerce in particular.

TCSecure has also been designed to support the implementation of Sun Microsystems' specification for the SunConnect™ framework for Web-based financial transactions. By offering security services consistent with SunConnect security specifications, TCSecure can fortify SunConnect-based financial systems into a military-grade secure transaction oriented environment.
