SimShield
Securely Training Together
Today, warfighter simulators often operate in controlled domains, isolated from other members of the simulation community, and cannot communicate electronically with other simulators without the risk of accidentally disclosing sensitive data. This isolation means that warfighters cannot participate in simulation exercises that mimic multiple sensitivity levels as found in real-world operations, which limits the effectiveness of the training exercise.
SimShield™ is a Cross-Domain Solution (or guard) that allows distributed simulation networks, operating under different security classifications, to communicate. SimShield permits secure connectivity between classified simulators and the rest of the simulation community. It provides best-in-class data throughput from one domain to another, making it capable of supporting most near real-time simulations, including accurate and immediate voice communication. With customizable rules and automated release, it is easily managed by the simulation site.
Within SimShield, the SimShield™ Policy Editor™ provides an easy-to-use graphical user interface (GUI) that permits security classification and simulation domain experts to enter and review the reclassification policy that governs the intercommunication between single-level federations. SimShield™ Trusted Bridge™ is the guard within SimShield that passes data, audits all traffic, and makes the connections across distributed networks.
Benefits of SimShield
- Enables interoperability between previously discrete simulation activities
- Provides fully automated, predictable, controlled and audited two-way communication of simulation events across security domains.
- Increases simulation staff productivity.
- Facilitates realistic data filtering and modification.
- Supports near real-time simulations, including radio traffic, with best-in-class performance.
- Works with the MAK Technologies™ and VTC™ RTIs.
- Provides an easy-to-use graphical user interface that permits site security and simulation domain experts to easily create and define reclassification rules.
